Singing Goodbye to 2014

Honestly, I’m feeling really down on this final day of 2014. Things have been rough.

That’s why I’m making a list of songs that will help me sing and dance my way into 2015 with my head held high… and sharing it with anyone who may want some good, inspirational music to end 2014, and carry you through 2015.
I’ve created a Grooveshark playlist of 15 songs, which is at the bottom of this post.

Let’s start with 2014’s United State of Pop Mashup by DJ Earworm… Do What You Wanna Do.

14 Years

Yesterday, I went to a walk-in clinic, shuffling like a zombie, wearing old sweats, the softest sweatshirt I have, my comfiest shoes, and greasy, tangled bed head. I was in serious physical pain, and soon found out, I have the flu.

My softest sweatshirt is my Gryffindor sweatshirt! (obviously this picture is from a while ago, because I was gross today)

The flu is not something I’ve ever had to deal with personally. The worst physical illnesses for me have been the chicken pox, which I barely remember because I was in Kindergarten, and those terrible cramps that many women get twelve weeks per year. The other thing would be when I’ve broken bones… but that was never an illness, that was me being stupid and not listening to logic.

Luckily, they have a medication that is working wonders for the flu. After my first dose, my symptoms began melting away. I was able to sit and lay as I pleased without wanting to scream in agony because my skin was so sensitive to any sort of touch, but I had to be piled under multiple think blankets because my chills would not leave. It was the first time in 14 years I have been happy with the result of taking any sort of pill. Read more “14 Years”

“Stormy, Scalding, Heart-Wrung Tears” –Jane Eyre

At 7am on Sunday, December 7th, I finished Jane Eyre, after having become riveted to the emotions in the words written by Charlotte Brontë. (Upon reflection, maybe it wasn’t the best choice to try and read myself to sleep with this book at midnight, as I wound up with no sleep.)

Finally, I am getting around to writing my review of the first book to be checked off of my Before 25 Bucket List

Stepping Stones

Hey, Readers! Some of you will have noticed that I added a page to this site. I’ve titled it Prior to 25 and am going to be using it as a motivator as I approach my 25th birthday.

Right now, it has a countdown to March 27, 2016, and a list of 30 books that I am determined to read before I’m 25. I am open to suggestions for additions to my book list. I am also looking for suggestions of other things to do before I turn 25 – bucket list-type activities. I’m looking for ideas that are good, fun experiences for someone quickly moving towards “serious adulthood,” but don’t cost a ton of money. Also, keep in mind that although I am looking for ideas, I can not do all ideas that you might submit, no matter how much I wish I could. I have approximately 15 months until my deadline. Currently, it feels like a long amount of time… but time passes quicker than anyone expects.

Living Life and Writing

My last post on here was written in my grandparent’s house on March 2, the day after my Grandma Emma passed away. That’s been 7 months. I just haven’t been able to get myself to write. It’s time I started again… a lot has changed. I need to write again.
